Name:
Arianwen (Avon)
Age:
19
Birthingday: Month 4 Day 24
Birthplace: Lemos Hold
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Location: Holdless
Emotional Description:
Arianwen is a quiet, generally antisocial young woman. Though some take this as shyness or a way that they can take advantage of her, they're dead wrong. Literally. When Arianwen is completely quiet, get away, _fast_. Because of her lifestyle and background, she has learned to be tough and to be dangerous.
She is by no means callous, rude or mean-tempered, but
she is not a person to mess with. She's stubborn with quite a temper but
it's a temper that she keeps under iron control. It's her control and her
strong, independent will and discipline that make her dangerous. She often keeps
herself calm, usually by meditating and clearing her mind before she sleeps and
before she rises each day.
However, to those that take the time to get to know her, Arianwen can be warm
and teasing. She is by no means outgoing or loud, but
has a warm, almost dry humor that is a little surprising to those that haven't
seen that side of her before. Above all, Arianwen is incredibly loyal. Once
she's on your side, unless you manage to betray her, she's on your side until
she takes her last breath.
Physical Description:
Arianwen is a tall young woman, standing about 5'9"
with a lithe, long-limbed build. Though possessing only average curves, she is
well-muscled from the harsh lifestyle she has lived over the Turns. Curly,
platinum blond hair frames her delicate, oval face,
falling to about mid-back. Arianwen's bone structure and facial features are
delicate and very feminine. A small nose, lips and high, sharp cheekbones
contribute to her delicacy. If it were not for her muscular frame, one might
think she'd lived the life of a lady, not that of a holdless. Arianwen often
braids her hair back out of her face but inevitably, little wisps of hair will
loosen and escape to fall around her face.
Arianwen has very pale, delicate skin that is usually,
now that she is out of her teens, unblemished. However, that pale skin burns
very, very easily in the sun and when it does, she gains freckles across her
nose and cheekbones to add to the ones that dust her shoulders and torso.
Against her very pale skin and hair, Arianwen's piercing, clover green eyes are
striking. Arianwen, as might be expected, has quite a few scars. The most
prominent are across her back and ribs, though she has a few on her arms and
legs as well. Most are not deep, save for one or two on her back, and amount to
probably around ten visible scars. Arianwen also has tattoos, which serve to
make her appearance all the more strange. Around her upper arms are intertwined
runners amidst intricately woven lines and circles. Across the backs of her
hands, she has more intricate designs incorporating dragons, the left in dark
blue and the right in blood red. Finally, she has black and dark green leaf and
vine-like designs that start at her temples and come across her cheekbones
nearly to her nose, then down, fading into her hair at the jaw.
Typically, Arianwen will wear black or brown pants,
boots, and a blouse as well as a black, hooded cloak. She wears very little
jewelry, usually just earrings as both her ears are pierced twice. She never
wears very dangly or large earrings as they are dangers in and of
themselves. She also wears a beautifully crafted dragon torc that she had made
simply because she knew that if her father ever found out, it'd seriously piss
him off. Because of her lifestyle, Arianwen also never goes anywhere, even just
on a walk, without her weapons handy. She has two swords, one that is almost 41
inches including the hilt and one that is slightly smaller, about 27 and a half
inches including the hilt. Both swords are extremely sharp with braided leather
over wooden hilts and both are in the ancient Terran oriental style. Besides the
swords, Arianwen also has various knives, some of which were made for throwing
on her person as well as a longbow that she uses for killing both animals and
people. It is designed especially for use on runners.
Brief History:
Arianwen, like her half-sister Angharad, was born to one of Abhainn's many women. However, unlike Angharad's mother, who was a lower caverns worker, Arianwen's was the daughter of a lord holder in good standing. Unfortunately, she also happened to be married at the time. Her rather naive husband, Galetan, who'd also been more concerned with the fields than with his wife anyway, was glad to have a child, even if his wife wasn't.
Arianwen's mother, Arela, was no better suited to
raising children than Angharad's mother. She'd never wanted a "brat who would
cling
to my skirts" as she so delicately put it. Unlike with Angharad, there was no
happy childhood for Arianwen, no Uncle Dageus to rescue her. While Arianwen
never lacked for any material goods, she was never good enough for her mother
and eventually stopped trying.
Arianwen spent all of her time at the stables, much to Arela's disgust. At
first, she did it simply because she knew Arela hated
it, but she grew to love being around runners and spending time there. After a
few sevendays, the Stablemaster put her into training to be a jockey. Arianwen
loved it from the very start. When Arela became angry and tried to entice her
away with dresses and baubles, her daughter ignored her.
But when Galeton met with a nasty "accident" while out
hunting, she no longer had a reason to stay. Particularly since Abhainn had
appeared again. When she left, just because she knew it would piss Arela off,
she took every single dress and bauble that she owned as well as a few from
Arela's own collection. She also took, with her apologies to the stables, one of
the mares. Renaming her Amayeta and taking a new name herself, Avon, she made
her way west. She was a mere twelve Turns old. On the way, she sold all of the
dresses and all of the baubles, giving her quite a lot of money to deal with.
With the money, she finally stopped at Igen Hold. Once there, she managed, her
tall height made her appear older, to enter in the training program for the Hold
Guards. Over the next four Turns, she trained, particularly with tracking and
weapons. During the time, bred her mare with one of the stallions at the Hold.
The product of that was a little filly, whom she named Alaqua. Then, with money
left over from the sale of dresses and baubles, she armed herself. And then she
did what no one would have expected....she became Holdless, taking Amayeta and
Alaqua with her. Leaving Igen, she traveled with different groups, leaving and
joining groups as it suited her. Sadly, a Turn later, the aging mare had
to be put out of her misery. But it turned out that Alaqua had a talent for
racing.
So between racing the very fast Alaqua, taking
positions as Guard and hunter and her leftover marks, Arianwen survived easily
on her
own. Her stay with one of the nomad groups gave her two things. First, she was
allowed to participate in the ritual tattooing of their young men and women,
gaining her own tattoos. Second, when she saved them from injury by hunting down
and killing the leaders of a very small band of rogues, she gained another
runner. This runner was much different from little Alaqua and she named him
Sahale.
Shortly after her 18th birthingday, Arianwen had a
run-in with another rogue band. This time, she recognized the leader, a man by
the
name of Abhainn, but he didn't do the same. Had it not been for the speed of
Alaqua and the angry hooves of Sahale, she might not have made it out alive. As
it was, she gained several new scars from her encounter with her biological
father and his band. The run-in gave her some very valuable information
however.....the details on just what Abhainn had been up to since she had left
Lemos. Disgust soon turned to hatred when she was forced to watch him murder
innocent dragonriders. Trailing him, did not realize that her half-sister was
doing the same.
When Abhainn and his band, now including Angharad,
left the Northern Continent to go to the island where the new Evenstar Weyrhold
had been established. Now, she's planning on joining the trading caravan that
tours the island, as a Guard which she knows they'll be needing. And if there's
any way for her to pick off some rogues, an older, cruel rogue in particular,
she plans to do it.
So when Arianwen tried to assassinate Abhainn when she had a chance, she was not to know that the whole attempt would be foiled, or that she would die, by the hands of rogues, then...

:: Pet Information ::
Pet Name:
Sahale Standing a full 16.2 hands high, Sahale undoubtedly an
impressive runner. The stallion's head is carried quite high and his face is
expressive. His neck is carried quite vertically and low-set, blending into a
lean body with muscular yet smooth legs and quarters. A deep, unrelenting black,
he has only one distinguishing mark, a white star on the center of his forehead.
His black mane and tail are wavy and very long. His tail almost reaches the
ground and his forelock goes two inches past his eyes. He also has abundant
black feather and long leg hair reaching from the middle of the leg. There is one really, really important thing to
remember about Sahale; whatever you do, don't piss him off. Unless Arianwen is
with you, and even then be wary, don't even come near him. Despite his striking
appearance, Arianwen has never had to worry about theives because anyone who
comes near him save his rider gets either bitten or kicked. Sahale is a runner
meant for fighting. His muscular legs can do serious damage to his opponents
while his rider fights. To anyone but Arianwen, Sahale tends to be contrary but
he usually behaves for her. As a gift from a band of nomads Sahale has been a
constant companion to Arianwen for the past 4 Turns.
Pet Name:
Rhys Rhys is a tiny little brown, so dark as to appear
black. The only light part of him are his sharp talons, talons he uses if anyone
gets too close for his comfort. He has a lithe, wiry little body that makes him
very fast and very difficult to see at night. Rhys is very protective of his
mistress and very loyal to her. He, surprisingly enough, can be a bit
mischievious and will hide things just to get a reaction from people. He's
intelligent and a reliable messenger, as well as being a clear speaker for a
flitter. He is Arianwen's long range eyes and ears and keeps careful tabs on the
rogues when they're anywhere near.

Pet Species: Runner
Pet Age: 4 Turns
Pet Description:
Pet Species: Firelizard - Brown
Pet Age: 8 Turns
Pet Description:
Pet Species: Runner
Pet Age: 4 Turns
Pet Description:
Standing at just under 16 hands high, Alaqua is not a big animal, but then, she
doesn't need to be. She has a refined head with widely spaced, intelligent eyes,
a long, arched neck and prominent withers. Her shoulder is extremely sloped and
her legs clean and long with pronounced tendons. Her long low stride outpaces
almost any other runner, making her one of the best racers. Alaqua is a deep,
blood-red bay with all black points. However, white stockings cover the black
markings on her back two legs while shorter white socks cover the black markings
on her two front legs. Alaqua, in addition to being an excellent racer, is much,
much gentler than Sahale. She's also intelligent and courageous with fairly
decent stamina. An all around good runner, Arianwen can use her for both
pleasure and racing.
